Common questions about festival volunteer planning

How many volunteers does a festival need?
It depends on your areas, opening hours and shift length. A simple calculation per area: the hours the area is open, divided by the shift length, times the people per shift. Add a buffer for dropouts. In shiftfold, you set exactly that per shift and see how many people are still missing.
How do I stop volunteers from not showing up?
Most no-shows happen because cancelling is a hassle or people forget their shift. shiftfold sends a reminder before every shift and lets volunteers offer their shift for a swap instead of just staying away. Team leads see on site who's there and notice right away where someone is missing.
Can volunteers work off their festival ticket?
Yes. shiftfold records who worked which shifts. Based on that, you can refund tickets, hand out food vouchers or give out crew packages. Workflows and integrations can automate this.
Do volunteers need an app?
No. shiftfold runs in the browser on any phone. Volunteers join through a link or QR code. Apps for Android and iOS are on the way.
Can I bring my existing volunteer list?
Yes. Import your existing list and invite people to pick their shifts themselves.
Is volunteer planning with shiftfold GDPR compliant?
Yes. You get a data processing agreement, and your volunteers' data is never used for ads or tracking.
