Common questions about volunteer planning for sporting events

How many volunteers does a marathon need?
It depends on the course length, the number of aid stations and the road closures. Plan the staffing each post needs, plus a buffer. In shiftfold, you create every post as a shift with the number of people you want and see where someone is still missing.
How do I organize course marshals?
Split the course into sections and create every post as a shift. Volunteers pick their own post, section leads look after their people, and on race day you see live where someone is still missing.
How do I make sure first aid posts are staffed correctly?
You set the required qualification for the post. Only volunteers who have it can sign up. That way nobody without training ends up at a first aid post.
Do volunteers need an app?
No. shiftfold runs in the browser on any phone. Volunteers join through a link or QR code. Apps for Android and iOS are on the way.
Is volunteer planning with shiftfold GDPR compliant?
Yes. You get a data processing agreement, and your volunteers' data is never used for ads or tracking.
